I found out very quickly that you cannot read this as if it's a continuation of
The Giver. It just doesn't work that way. While still a dystopian world, the characters, civilization, and pretty much everything is completely different. The environment is less developed (ie. never having taken a shower, but going to the stream to wash). Kira is a gifted weaver and is assigned to restore and create exactly what she is told. Of course, this sounds like a recipe for disaster. Along her journey we meet others who just don't belong.
A more detailed, in-depth review to come. Will link to my blog once it's published.
