Prodigy (Legend #2)

Prodigy (Legend #2) - Marie Lu **This is the second in a series... If you haven't finished the first one, there will be spoilers**

I picked up this one because duh. I had to find out what happened. Lu, what are you doing to these characters that hasn't already been done to them?

A huge "HURRAH" for having the same voice actors!

I don't really have a whole lot to say about this one. It could be because I don't really remember exactly what happened and I don't want to give anything away. It could be because I'm currently listening to the third one and am getting the two confused. It could definitely be a combination of the two with some other reasons. It could even be that Ingrid Michaelson playing in the background is distracting me. And then comes on Alkaline Trio (it's all over when it comes to focusing now).

What I do remember is that this book was definitely better than the first one. I think now that the introductions are over and all the ground work had been laid down, I was ready for some action. This one definitely had it. It had action, this awkward love triangle...square...thing going on. (Sometimes teen romance just makes me barf..this one was semi-tolerable.)

Something that I don't think I mentioned in Legend, but is super important to me, is that June and other female characters are just straight up kick-ass. June, this super smart girl (is she classified as a woman yet??) is still able to fight and basically be like the Black Widow while fighting. There's a fighter pilot and a medic thrown in among the mix of the strong female characters and I'm loving it! Something that I could probably do without is the almost need of June having a love interest or this odd jealousy. I'm still waiting for a YA book that doesn't have jealousy among the female characters. (I would make a cake full of sunshine and rainbows, and everyone could eat it and be happy.... I just have a lot of feelings. Name that movie!)

I don't really want to talk about anything plot-wise just because of this pet peeve of mine - spoilers. So, I'm not going to. (Fair enough.)

My rating and why: I gave this book three stars! It was better than the first, but still didn't blow me away. I'm still going to read the third, and final installment. As mentioned before, I'm already doin' that very thing. I apologize. I just don't have all that much to say about it. Basically anything about rebellion is up my alley and I'm going to read it.
